Kursk, Russia, 11 July 1943 After nearly a week of intense fighting the 6th Panzer Division of the III Panzer Corps manages to cross the Northern Donets river and take a holding position. The aim of the Corps is to link up with the II SS Panzer Corps in the Prokhorovka area. The 48th Guards Rifle Division with a Mechanized Brigade in support and the V Guards Mechanized Corps attempt to seal the gap and cut off the 6th Panzer Division. Gen Breith commits the 19th and 7th Panzer Divisions to block the Russian attack.
