Tarasovka, S of Staraya Russa: 25 May, 1943 [Best played against Human opponent. Recommend the use of optional armor facing rule.] Most small unit actions on the Russian Front rarely made it onto the pages of history, but to the men who fought them death and defeat could come just as quickly as in a major engagement. Small villages unknown hills and road junctions were fought over and changed hands time and again. One such location was south of Staraya Russa at Tarasovka. Late on 24 May, German patrols reported a Soviet column moving towards the small village and the narrow passes through the hills to the east. Major Stenzel, commanding the 132nd Motorized Grenadier Battalion, was ordered to move as quickly as possible to block the Russian advance. While happy that for once regiment had assigned a number of support units to back up his well-used battalion, he was far less enthusiastic about his new assignment.
