On April 9th 1945 the city Unna was captured by the US troops.
Hauptman Ernst got the order to move to the north with his Kampfgruppe.
In Langschede the river Ruhr was crossed by the Kampfgruppe Ernst,
followed by a PzGrenBtl. The PSW at the top of the KGr reported
many vehicles along the Reichsstrasse 1 moving to Dortmund. But
some of them turned to the south, moving direct to the KGr Ernst.
Hptm Ernst took all his Jagdtigers, Assault guns and Pz IV and
took position on the Bismarkhoehe. "Hold the fort" was his order
to save the troops moving to Iserlohn. On April 16th 1945, Hptm
hand over the city Iserlohn honorable to the US troops.The war
for the last Jagdtiger Kp. of the Jagdtiger-Abt. 512 was over.
